In an effort to encourage their employees to donate to the victims of the Haiti earthquake, online dating site Mate1.com offers to match employee donations dollar for dollar. So if an employee donates $1,000, Mate1.com would match that donation.

Not only is this incredibly admirable of the online dating site, it also encourages employees to donate, knowing that whatever they contribute will be doubled by their employer.

If every company did this, I’m certain that the victims of the Haiti earthquake would be able to get help and treatment that much more quickly.

Employees are encouraged to make their donations to the Red Cross or charity of their choice, and then send the receipt to the Mate1 accounting department, at which point the donation gets matched.

If your company isn’t doing this, you might want to make mention of Mate1.com’s charitable idea.
